Application of C9 Petroleum Resin In Coating Industry

Application of C9 petroleum resin in coating industry: C9 resin can be combined with other resins to replace all or part of high-priced resins, thereby reducing costs and improving the gloss, hardness, water resistance, stability and chemical resistance of products. For example, in the formula of phenolic varnish, C9 petroleum resin is used to replace rosin-modified phenolic resin and rosin calcium ester in equal amounts. The obtained product still meets the standards of phenolic varnish and phenolic enamel. However, the cost of C9 petroleum resin is less than 1/4 of that of rosin-modified phenolic resin, so it can greatly reduce costs. Adding alicyclic petroleum resin to epoxy resin and polyurethane blended paint can improve the hardness, flexure test, warm water resistance, weather resistance and other indicators of the product.
Application of C9 Petroleum Resin In Adhesives
Application of C9 petroleum resin in adhesives: In adhesives, the C9 resin mainly plays the role of providing adhesion. The petroleum resin can improve the bonding stability, creep resistance, heat resistance and other properties of the polymer in the adhesive. For example, if petroleum resin is mixed with SBS thermoplastic elastomer block copolymer in a mixed solvent of toluene and hexane, the resulting viscous mixture can be used to make pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes into pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Application of C9 petroleum resin in rubber industry: C9 petroleum resin is mainly used as a rubber softening additive. Styrene butadiene rubber is lacks of viscosity and hard. The addition of C9 petroleum resin divides the molecular chain of styrene butadiene rubber, making the product have better viscosity and softness. On the other hand, C9 petroleum resin can reduce the quantity of natural rubber in synthetic rubber, significantly reducing the cost without changing the quality of rubber products. In terms of technology, the use of petroleum resin can save a raw rubber refining process, shorten the production cycle, and improve economic benefits.

Use of C9 petroleum resin in printing ink: The primary function of C9 resin is as a binder. There are petroleum resins that correspond to different printing ink specifications to satisfy the needs of different indicators like wetting speed, drying speed, solvent release, water resistance, and alkali resistance. C9 resin has excellent compatibility with many components in printing ink.
